There is such joy in being “re-tweeted.” It’s such a simple thing: one Twitter user reads your little message and hits the re-tweet button, and BOOM! It’s out there for the whole world to see.
I was re-tweeted a couple times this morning and felt like “PEOPLE LIKE ME! THEY REALLY LIKE ME!” and did a little happy dance at my desk. I don’t know why it’s so validating other than maybe it just plain feels good to know there are other like-minded humans on the planet. People I haven’t met yet are on the same wavelength, and that is just SO COOL!
I got “favorited” too on Twitter and I was like “eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek, is this what it’s like to be popular?!?!”
I’ve been blogging here for more than a decade (and recently on the new site too) and it feels good when a new person finds some words and goes “Yeah, I like that.”
(Were you paying attention? I just gave you a link to my new site, the one I have not officially launched yet. You can take a little peek, opt-in to my mailing list if you want!)
It’s good to be “liked.” A little dopamine hit, a little flush to the cheeks. Yay!
